Brittany Holidays
brittany & loire-atlantique
Rich in culture, jaw-dropping landscapes and wonderful food. Sprawled across the northwestern tip of France, the untamed region of Brittany has a roguish glint in its eye. It's rich with tales of giants, goblins, Merlin and King Arthur.
But if tales of sorcery aren't your thing, the stunning scenery will certainly cast its spell upon you. The coastline could have stepped straight out of a Merchant Ivory film strewn with lighthouses, rocky coves, windswept heaths and charming villages.
This is a place that has music in its blood, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for the Celtic harp, Breton bagpipes, drums and flutes. Some of it may sound familiar as it shares some similarities with other Celtic music, such as Irish jigs. But don't say this to the locals who are very proud of their unique music.
Loire Atlantique shares much with its neighbour Brittany, and is the departement where France’s biggest river reaches the ocean. The picturesque Western Loire region stretches along the Atlantic to form the Jade Coast. Much of this landscape is shaped by the sea, from idyllic ports to the incredible salt marshes and the rich heritage of seafood.
